brilliant ideas

i love happening upon a brilliant idea.
although, truth be told, i'm often fashionably late to the idea, so you may already know this little tidbit i'm about to share.  if not, consider this my own personal little public service announcement to you and yours.

miss moo loves apples.  i would love to send them to school for lunch, but she has trouble eating a whole apple, especially given she's sans front teeth.  when i slice it, the pieces gets all brown and icky.
we tried giving the slices a sprinkle of lemon juice, but that wasn't well received.

one day, whilst perusing the internets, i happened upon something called an aussie apple.
apparently, it's commonplace, when one is down under, to slice your apples, piece them back together, and secure with a rubber band.

i am pleased to report that this really does work.
the slices don't get discolored, and my wee girl loves having a puzzle as a part of her lunch.

those aussies think of everything.

Ha! This must explain why Willa, out of nowhere, recently, said--"hey mom, I know how we can avoid brown apples! Put a rubber band around the apple!" It seemed like a good idea then and even better now!
